Clinical use

Luforbec is an extrafine ICS/LABA formulation containing 2 well-established molecules:1,2

  • Beclometasone an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) — reduces inflammation in the lungs
  • Formoterol a long-acting beta2-agonist (LABA) — provides bronchodilation with a rapid onset of 1–3 minutes after inhalation

Extrafine particles are designed to reach both the large and small airways, supporting deeper lung penetration and better targeting of small-airway inflammation compared with standard, larger-particle formulations.1–3

Available in two strengths to tailor the treatment approach for your patients1,2

Luforbec 100/6 pMDI

Each metered dose (ex-valve) contains: 100 μg of beclometasone dipropionate and 6 μg of formoterol fumarate dihydrate.1

Luforbec 100/6 pMDI is indicated for adults:1

  • In the regular treatment of asthma, where use of a combination product (inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting beta2-agonist) is appropriate:
  • Patients not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and ‘as needed’ inhaled rapid-acting beta2-agonist OR Patients already adequately controlled on both inhaled corticosteroids and long-acting beta2-agonists
  • As maintenance and reliever therapy (MART) for adult asthma
  • For the symptomatic treatment of patients with severe COPD (FEV1 <50% predicted normal) and a history of repeated exacerbations, who have significant symptoms despite regular therapy with long-acting bronchodilators

Each metered dose (ex-valve) contains: 200 μg of beclometasone dipropionate and 6 μg of formoterol fumarate dihydrate.1

Luforbec 200/6 pMDI is indicated for adults:2

  • In the regular treatment of asthma, where use of a combination product (inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting beta2-agonist) is appropriate:
  • Patients not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and ‘as needed’ inhaled rapid-acting beta2-agonist OR Patients already adequately controlled on both inhaled corticosteroids and long-acting beta2-agonists

Beclometasone/formoterol pMDIs are listed as Category C medicines in the NHS Drug Tariff. Therefore, Luforbec needs to be prescribed by brand to release savings for the NHS.8
